Darren Davis dies in fatal Mott Haven shooting

Fatal Mott Haven shooting death of Darren Davis – Obituary

A violent weekend across New York City left five people dead in separate incidents, including Darren Davis, who was fatally shot in the chest Saturday night in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. Authorities reported no arrests have been made in connection with any of the killings.

According to the NYPD, Davis, 30, was shot on Willis Avenue near East 137th Street around 8:30 p.m. He and a 42-year-old woman who was also injured were taken to Lincoln Hospital. Davis was pronounced dead, while the woman was reported to be in stable condition. Investigators have not released any information on possible suspects or motives.

The weekend’s first fatality occurred Friday night around 8:49 p.m. at the Alfred E. Smith Houses in Manhattan’s Two Bridges neighborhood, where a 35-year-old man was shot in the chest. He later died at Bellevue Hospital. Police have not identified the victim or a suspect in that case.

Not long after Davis’s death, police responded to a separate incident in North Corona, Queens, where 32-year-old Fabian Chimbo was found with several stab wounds on 34th Avenue near 96th Street. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition and later died. Like the other cases, no suspects have been named.

On Sunday afternoon, 41-year-old Alvin Francis from St. Albans was fatally stabbed aboard an MTA J90 shuttle bus in the Cypress Hills area of Brooklyn. Emergency responders found him with a stab wound to the abdomen and transported him to Brookdale University Hospital, where he died. Police have not confirmed whether others were on the bus at the time.

The final reported killing occurred Sunday evening in the Fordham North area of the Bronx. Officers found 31-year-old Fode Bamba, a resident of Morrisania, with multiple stab wounds to the torso. He was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital and later pronounced dead. As with the other deaths, no arrests have been announced.

Although homicides citywide are down nearly 27% compared to the same time last year, recent police data shows an increase in killings in the North Corona and Fordham North precincts. Authorities continue to investigate all five incidents and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
