Fatal Texarkana shooting death of Jaylen Betts – Obituary
Jaylen Betts, 21, was killed in a shooting early Saturday morning in Texarkana, Texas, marking the city’s first homicide of 2025, authorities said. Officers were dispatched shortly after midnight to a home on the 1300 block of Carroll Street following reports of gunfire.
Inside the residence, police found Betts along with a 52-year-old man who also sustained injuries but is expected to recover. The older man was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds.
Investigators believe the shots were fired from outside the home by one or more individuals who then fled the scene on foot.
