Jeffrey Allen Keyes dies in fatal Barberton stabbing
Fatal Barberton stabbing death of Jeffrey Allen Keyes – Obituary
Jeffrey Allen Keyes, 41, of Barberton, was fatally stabbed late Sunday night following a confrontation that occurred near Pfeiffer Street and Irish Lane. Authorities say the altercation took place around 11:10 p.m., prompting police to respond to the scene.
Officers later located Keyes at a home in the 300 block of Lucas Street, where he had retreated after the incident. He was transported to Summa Health, but despite efforts to save him, he was declared dead at 11:55 p.m., according to Gary Guenther, chief investigator at the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Investigators quickly identified 25-year-old Michael Alan Spry of Akron as the suspect. Spry was taken into custody without resistance at a residence on Pfeiffer Street and charged with murder. Authorities believe the stabbing stemmed from a fight between Spry, Keyes, and a woman familiar to both men.
Spry is being held at the Barberton City Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 12. The case remains under active investigation.
