Fatal Millcreek Township shooting death of Patrick Kanonczyk – Obituary

Authorities have confirmed that 36-year-old Patrick Kanonczyk was fatally shot by police Sunday evening in Millcreek Township, Pennsylvania. The incident unfolded shortly after 7:15 p.m. at The Reserves at Millcreek in the 1600 block of Treetop Drive.

Pennsylvania State Police reported that Erie County 911 had received multiple calls, including reports of a man using a hammer to break a vehicle window and another claiming someone was threatening their girlfriend with a hammer. Millcreek officers responded and located a man matching the suspect’s description.

After a brief confrontation, officers discharged their weapons, striking Kanonczyk. Although officers attempted lifesaving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing, led by Pennsylvania State Police and the Erie County Detective’s Office, in line with established protocol.
