Fatal Southwest Baltimore shooting death of Taniya Gray – Obituary
Taniya Gray, a 23-year-old woman, lost her life after being discovered with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle on Sunday morning in Southwest Baltimore. Authorities say they found Gray around 10:40 a.m. in the 4100 block of Mount Wood Road. She had sustained multiple gunshot injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she later died.
In a separate case earlier that weekend, a 37-year-old man was fatally shot around 6:40 a.m. Saturday on the 3500 block of 2nd Street in South Baltimore. He suffered wounds to his upper body, according to police.

Baltimore Police reported a total of 43 homicides in 2025 as of May 9, which shows a decrease from the 60 murders logged by the same date in 2024. There have been 107 shooting victims so far this year, down from 147 in the same timeframe last year.
WJZ’s gun violence tracker reveals that over the past 12 months, about 2,500 individuals have been victims of gun-related crimes, including both shootings and threats involving firearms. The most affected age group has been individuals aged 30 to 34.
Meanwhile, in other investigations, police have charged Rodsheead Alexander, 34, and two 19-year-olds, Zion Wimbish and Ra’Shawn Smith, with the murder of 15-year-old John Lewis. Lewis was fatally shot on May 7. Smith, who was also injured in the incident, was hospitalized before being arrested and taken to Central Booking.
Additionally, a tragic incident on May 3 claimed the life of 6-year-old Micah Comegys in the 800 block of Vine Street. The child was found with a gunshot wound in a home, alongside a firearm. Comegys was a student at Mary E. Rodman Elementary. Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley pledged accountability if the gun was improperly secured.
