Yesenia Lara, a mayoral candidate in Texistepec, Veracruz, was tragically killed on Sunday during a campaign event. Lara, representing President Claudia Sheinbaum’s Morena party, was shot along with three of her supporters.

The shooting occurred at a rally where supporters were carrying Morena flags and motorcycles were part of the procession.

Footage from a Facebook Live broadcast captured the chaotic moments when gunshots rang out, causing people to flee in panic.

Governor Rocio Nahle confirmed the attack and vowed to hold those responsible accountable, stating that no political position is worth a life. The state’s attorney general has launched an investigation into the deaths.
