A tragic accident in Danville on Monday claimed the life of 51-year-old Christopher S. Dyszkewicz, who lost control of his bicycle and was struck by a semi-trailer while riding along East Main Street.

According to authorities, Dyszkewicz was traveling on the sidewalk in the 700 block of East Main when he fell into the road around 1:42 p.m. A passing semi-truck hit him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Vermilion County Coroner, Jane McFadden, confirmed his identity and reported that an autopsy was scheduled for later in the day.

Police noted that the truck driver stopped immediately to offer assistance. No citations were issued, and no additional injuries were reported.

Both the Danville Police Department and the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Team are handling the investigation.
