Police in Northland have confirmed that the man found dead last week at a property in Parakao was 55-year-old Geoffrey Wayne Ware. His body was discovered at a rural address located along Mangakahia Road, approximately 40 kilometers west of Whangārei.

At first, Ware’s death was considered unexplained, but investigators have since determined that he was likely the victim of foul play.

Detective Senior Sergeant Michelle Harris stated that the investigation has developed promising leads, and police are actively pursuing them.

As part of the ongoing inquiry, authorities are seeking information related to a blue and silver 1999 Mitsubishi L200. The vehicle was reportedly seen on Friday, May 9, between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the vicinity of Mangakahia Road, Otaika Valley Road, and State Highway 14 toward Whangārei.

They are also asking for details about a man who may have been seen walking along State Highway 14 around that same timeframe.
