Fatal Florence County nightclub shooting death of Melvin Anthony Gibson – Obituary

Melvin Anthony Gibson, 39, has been confirmed by the Florence County Coroner’s Office as the man who lost his life in a shooting outside a Florence nightclub early Sunday morning on Mother’s Day.

 

The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. in the parking lot of Qulture Bistro. Authorities reported that a confrontation escalated, leading to gunfire that killed Gibson and wounded six other individuals. Among the injured was the suspected shooter, who remains hospitalized in critical condition, according to Sheriff TJ Joye.

 

The incident at Qulture marked the second of three shootings over the weekend in Florence County. The first occurred Saturday night at the Red Circle Club on Irby Street, where one person was left in critical condition. Arrests have also been made following the third shooting, which happened outside a Cook Out restaurant on the same street, where a 24-year-old allegedly shot and struck a 17-year-old worker.

 

Investigations into all three shootings are ongoing.
