Fatal Craig shooting death of Troy Wade Curtis Jr. – Obituary

Troy Wade Curtis Jr., 36, of Craig, was shot by a Craig police officer on the morning of April 26.

The incident occurred when officers responded to a report of a man allegedly armed with a handgun near a residence on Ashley Road. Police officers exchanged shots with Curtis, who was struck during the exchange.

Curtis received immediate medical aid from officers before being transported to Memorial Regional Hospital and then flown to another medical facility for further treatment. Authorities have yet to release details about Curtis’s condition, and the investigation is ongoing.

Officer Dalton Caudell, involved in the shooting, has been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues under the supervision of the 14th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team.
