Fatal Orange, California shooting death of Amber Nicole Parsons – Obituary

Amber Nicole Parsons, a 24-year-old resident of Costa Mesa, was fatally shot while driving her SUV in Orange, California, during the early hours of Tuesday, May 6, 2025. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. as Parsons was traveling south on Highland Street near Del Mar Avenue. An unidentified male suspect opened fire on her vehicle, striking her multiple times.

 

Parsons was accompanied by a female passenger in her 20s, who was unharmed in the attack. Authorities reported that the two women had just turned around in a cul-de-sac when the shooting took place. Investigators noted that they had no apparent reason for being in that particular neighborhood at the time.

 

Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene on foot. Parsons was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel.

 

On May 9, 2025, authorities arrested 21-year-old Allan Plata of Orange in connection with the shooting. Plata, who was on probation at the time, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, shooting at a vehicle, and possession of a firearm with a prior juvenile conviction. Additional sentencing enhancements include allegations of gang activity and discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury.
