Fatal Iroquois County shooting death of Angela Taylor – Obituary
Angela Taylor, a 57-year-old woman from Donovan, Illinois, was shot and killed Monday night in Iroquois County, according to local law enforcement.
Authorities reported that Nicholas Gregory, 38, from Milford, initially left a vehicle on a railroad crossing near 2150 N. 2750 E., just outside Iroquois. He then allegedly stole another vehicle from a nearby driveway and parked it beside the first on the tracks.
Taylor had stopped her car near the blocked crossing when Gregory approached. After she stepped out of her vehicle to confront him, Gregory reportedly shot her. He then fled the scene in the truck left on the tracks.
Taylor was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, where she was later pronounced dead.
Following the incident, Gregory appeared at a residence in Watseka and reportedly threatened a resident before fleeing again. Authorities from Jasper and Newton counties in Indiana later located and pursued him. He was apprehended by Newton County deputies and returned to Iroquois County, where he now faces a charge of first-degree murder.
The investigation is still ongoing.
