Carissa Perryman, 29, lost her life Monday after being shot near her home in Kansas City, marking the city’s fourth homicide in just four days.
Around 12:30 p.m., Kansas City police responded to a report of gunfire in the 1600 block of Topping. Officers were directed to an alley beside a nearby home, where they found Perryman unresponsive from a gunshot wound.
Emergency responders provided immediate assistance and transported her to a local hospital. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police detained an adult female at the scene as a person of interest. Investigators believe that an altercation between the two women escalated, leading to the shooting. Authorities are continuing to interview witnesses who were present when officers arrived.
As the investigation remains active, officials have not disclosed further details surrounding the incident.
