Fatal Upper Selway River rafting deaths of Daniel Triantafillow and Matthew Lane – Obituary

Daniel Triantafillow, 41, and Matthew Lane, 35, both from Colorado, lost their lives during a rafting trip on the Upper Selway River in Idaho County this past Saturday.

According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, the two men were navigating a particularly treacherous stretch of the river located between Double Drop and Wa-poots Rapids when the fatal incident occurred. The rugged terrain made immediate recovery efforts difficult, and their bodies were not retrieved until the following day.

The Idaho County Coroner’s Office has confirmed their identities, and the official cause of death for each man is still being investigated. Triantafillow and Lane were part of a larger rafting group at the time of the accident.
