Fatal Jersey City shooting death of Gerard Brooker Sr. – Obituary

52-year-old Gerard Brooker Sr. was shot and killed inside a residence in Jersey City on Saturday evening, authorities said. Police were called to the scene at 115-121 Wade Street around 8:15 p.m., where they found Brooker Sr. unresponsive with gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at 8:30 p.m.

According to investigators, the victim’s son, 25-year-old Gerard Brooker Jr., was identified as the primary suspect. He was apprehended the following afternoon in Manhattan. Authorities have charged him with murder and two counts of unlawful weapon possession.

The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort between the Jersey City Police Department, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, and the NYPD.
