Gregory Kavanaugh dies in fatal Campbell County lake incident – Monday, May 12, 2025

Fatal Campbell County lake death of Gregory Kavanaugh – Obituary

Gregory Kavanaugh, 62, of Alexandria, Kentucky, has been identified as the individual whose body was discovered Monday in a lake at A.J. Jolly Park and Campground, authorities confirmed.

The Campbell County Coroner’s Office reported that Kavanaugh, a well-known fisherman in the local community, was found after emergency crews responded to reports of a capsized fishing boat at the park.

Around 4 p.m., Boone County Water and Rescue located and retrieved his body from the lake. Chief of Police Craig Patrick Sorrell said that there is no indication of foul play at this time.

The coroner’s office has sent Kavanaugh’s body to Frankfort for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
