Fatal Waukegan motorcycle crash death of Jose Rodriguez – Obituary

Jose Rodriguez, 31, of Waukegan, lost his life following a fiery collision between a motorcycle and a car Monday evening at the intersection of Green Bay Road and Sunset Avenue. The crash, which occurred around 9:15 p.m., left Rodriguez pinned beneath the vehicle, and his motorcycle engulfed in flames.

A Lake County sheriff’s deputy, already patrolling nearby, arrived on the scene and, along with a Waukegan police officer and bystanders, lifted the car to free Rodriguez. Despite emergency responders performing CPR, Rodriguez was unresponsive and not breathing.

He was transported by ambulance to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room. The Lake County Coroner confirmed that Rodriguez died from blunt force trauma sustained in the crash.

Authorities shut down the intersection for several hours to conduct an investigation. As of now, police have not released information on what caused the crash or determined who may have been at fault.
