Justin Skaggs dies in fatal Hollywood 101 Freeway pedestrian crash

Fatal Hollywood 101 Freeway pedestrian crash death of Justin Skaggs – Obituary

Justin Skaggs, 36, was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as the man who was killed after being struck by a vehicle on the Hollywood (101) Freeway early Tuesday morning near the Hollywood Bowl.

The incident occurred around 1:18 a.m. near the southbound side of the freeway at the Cahuenga Boulevard off-ramp. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Elizabeth Kravig, responding officers found two vehicles at the scene: a BMW sedan blocking one lane and a white sedan with its airbags deployed in the middle lanes.

Skaggs was reportedly thrown into the northbound lanes after being hit and was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

Authorities closed three lanes of the southbound 101 Freeway for over three hours while investigators examined the crash scene to determine what led to the collision. A SigAlert was issued during the investigation.
