Fatal Clinton County car crash death of Macy Haar – Obituary
Sixteen-year-old Macy Haar of Germantown, Illinois, tragically died in a multi-vehicle accident Friday afternoon on Drive-In Road in rural Breese, according to Clinton County Sheriff Dan Travous.
The incident occurred around 3 p.m. near Rose Acre Farms and involved two UTVs and a Chevrolet Silverado, all operated by 16-year-olds. Authorities said the vehicles had just exited the parking lot of Central High School when the crash took place.
Haar was driving a 2023 Polaris Ranger side-by-side with a 2018 Honda Pioneer, both traveling along Drive-In Road. A vehicle approaching from the opposite direction caused the Pioneer’s driver to swerve back in front of the Ranger. In an attempt to avoid a collision, Haar applied the brakes hard, causing her vehicle to slide into a ditch.
She was ejected from the UTV and was found unresponsive on the roadway by responding officers. Haar was pronounced dead shortly after.
Another teenage girl riding in the Ranger suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital. The Silverado, trailing the Ranger, swerved to avoid impact and sustained minor damage. The young driver of the truck was unharmed.
The Illinois State Police are assisting Clinton County deputies with the investigation.
