Maureen Green, age 67, has been named as one of the five individuals who lost their lives in the devastating apartment fire that broke out in Milwaukee on Mother’s Day.

 

The deadly blaze erupted Sunday morning at a large apartment complex located near 27th Street and Highland Boulevard. Firefighters responded quickly to the scene, finding the building consumed by thick smoke and heavy flames.

 

Emergency personnel executed multiple rescue operations, using ladders to reach people trapped on upper levels and maneuvering through smoke-filled hallways to bring residents to safety.

As of Tuesday, six individuals remain hospitalized, with one person listed in critical condition.

The apartment building was still boarded up as of Tuesday evening, and officials said it will be at least a week before residents can return to gather their belongings.
