A deadly collision in Carroll County, Illinois has claimed the life of 76-year-old Richard A. Ryan from Spring Hill, Tennessee. The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. on Monday, May 12, when emergency responders received a 911 call reporting a crash involving a motorcycle and a semi-truck along Illinois Route 84, north of Thomson.

Preliminary findings by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office indicate that Ryan was traveling southbound on his motorcycle when he veered into the northbound lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a semi operated by a 28-year-old Wisconsin man. The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Richard Ryan was pronounced dead on-site due to the severity of his injuries. The sheriff’s office has confirmed that the case remains under investigation, and no additional details have been released at this time.
