Authorities have identified Ross P Hicks, a 42-year-old man from Mt. Sterling, as the victim in a deadly hit-and-run crash that occurred Tuesday night in Clay City, Kentucky. Officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to the scene near Main Street and the Dairy Queen, where they discovered Hicks had been struck and killed by a vehicle.
Police later located the suspect vehicle in Jeffersonville. During a traffic stop, officers found 25-year-old Alyson Martin behind the wheel with visible front-end damage on her car. They reported that Martin smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.
According to the arrest citation, Martin admitted to realizing she had struck someone after stopping at a gas station and discovering damage. She also confessed to removing a backpack from the front of the vehicle and abandoning it.
Martin is facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and tampering with evidence. Records indicate she had a prior DUI arrest in Frankfort, which remains an open case.
