Fatal Grantsville car crash death of Sriya Grandhi – Obituary
Sriya Grandhi lost her life in a deadly crash on the evening of Saturday, May 10, along eastbound I-68 near mile marker 13 in Grantsville, as confirmed by Maryland State Police.
According to investigators, Grandhi was sitting in the front passenger seat of a 2005 Honda Accord when it collided into the back of a tractor-trailer traveling in the same direction.
The Honda was driven by 19-year-old George Nikhil Painumkal from Waterford, Virginia. He sustained injuries and was airlifted to Ruby Memorial Hospital. Another passenger, 18-year-old Aneesh Nagireddi of Ashburn, was also hurt and taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance.
The truck driver, identified as 70-year-old Eric Rowe from Ontario, Canada, was unharmed.
A specialized unit is currently inspecting the tractor-trailer, and authorities have stated that alcohol does not appear to have played a role in the collision. Investigators say charges may be filed following a full review and consultation with the Garrett County State’s Attorney’s Office.
