Authorities in North Richland Hills have arrested four individuals in connection to the April 29 shooting that claimed the life of 17-year-old Alvin Ray Sweet and left a female bystander injured.

 

The deadly gunfire erupted around 10:30 p.m. in the 8400 block of Emerald Hills Way. Responding officers discovered Sweet inside a black Honda Civic that had collided with a parked vehicle. He was suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A woman, wounded by a stray bullet, was located near an apartment entrance and also taken to the hospital for treatment.

 

Police say the suspects—Ziquarius Taveon Burnette, 17, of North Richland Hills; Oscar Macias, 18, of Haltom City; and Zackary Daniel Garza, 17, also of North Richland Hills—were all known to Sweet. They, along with a fourth juvenile whose identity has not been released, were arrested between May 10 and May 12. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a drug-related dispute.

 

Each of the three named suspects is facing charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held at the Tarrant County Jail on a $2.5 million bond. The
