Fatal Sioux Falls motorcycle crash death of Derek Berry – Obituary

Derek Berry, a 44-year-old man from Zumbrota, Minnesota, lost his life in a motorcycle accident that happened Sunday evening, May 11, on a freeway on-ramp in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol reported that Berry was riding a Suzuki motorcycle when he entered the northbound on-ramp to Interstate 29 from 12th Street at a high speed. The curve on the ramp caused him to lose control of the bike.

His motorcycle struck concrete barriers on both sides of the on-ramp, throwing Berry from the vehicle. He was rushed to a hospital in Sioux Falls where he later died from his injuries.

No other vehicles were part of the crash, but the incident temporarily affected traffic in the area. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
