Fatal Baltimore shooting death of Jai Marc Howell – Obituary

Jai Marc Howell, 26, was fatally shot following an exchange of gunfire with Baltimore City Police officers in North Baltimore on Monday.

Officers from the Northern District Action Team encountered Howell at around 1:30 pm in the 4600 block of York Road. When approached, Howell fled on foot but then drew a handgun and fired at the officers.

Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, he continued to shoot, hitting a police vehicle. The officers returned fire, striking Howell multiple times. Emergency aid was given at the scene before Howell was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

The recovered weapon was confirmed to have an extended magazine. No officers sustained injuries during the incident. The Independent Investigations Division is actively examining the case.
