Fatal Midland motorcycle crash death of Samuel Dean Diaz – Obituary

Samuel Dean Diaz, a 21-year-old man, died Wednesday night after his motorcycle crashed into a pickup truck and then a guardrail at the intersection of State Highway 191 and FM 1788 in Midland, Texas.

Midland Police Department officers responded to the scene at around 7:14 p.m. According to their investigation, a 2023 GMC Sierra was traveling west in the inside lane of Highway 191 when the driver noticed a motorcycle approaching rapidly from behind, weaving through traffic.

In an attempt to give way, the pickup driver changed lanes to the outside lane. As Diaz entered the same lane, his motorcycle struck the right rear bumper of the truck, causing him to lose control.

The impact threw Diaz into a guardrail, and he was ejected from the bike, falling partway down the side of the overpass. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Midland police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
