Fatal Fremont County car crash death of Ivana Wen – Obituary
Ivana Wen, a 28-year-old from Milan, Italy, has been identified as one of the seven individuals killed in a devastating collision near Yellowstone National Park earlier this month. The tragic event occurred on May 1 along U.S. Highway 20 in Fremont County, Idaho, when a tour van transporting international tourists was struck by a pickup truck.
The Idaho State Police have now named all seven victims involved in the deadly crash. Among those killed in the van were Jianping Li, 71, from Guangxi, China; Li Nie, 64, and Aifeng Wan, 53, both residents of Arcadia, California; Xiaoming Jiang, 66, from Guilin, China; and the van’s driver, 30-year-old Yu Zhang from Eastvale, California. The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup that caused the crash, 25-year-old Isaih Moreno from Humble, Texas, also lost his life.
According to investigators, Moreno was heading west when his vehicle veered over the center line and slammed into the eastbound van at around 7:15 p.m. The van, operated by Ctour Holiday LLC and carrying 14 people, erupted in flames after the collision. The cause of the pickup truck’s erratic movement remains unknown as the investigation continues.
Captain Chris Weadick of ISP District 6 described the incident as particularly complex due to the high number of fatalities and the involvement of foreign nationals. Three passengers sustained serious injuries and were flown to hospitals in Bozeman, Montana, and Idaho Falls. Others were taken to local facilities with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fremont County Coroner Brenda Dye acknowledged the coordinated efforts between local and state agencies in confirming the identities of the deceased, expressing appreciation for the professionalism involved in managing such a difficult situation.
First responders, including a Fremont County deputy and several good Samaritans, rushed to help survivors before the van became engulfed in flames. Their swift response likely prevented further loss of life.
The roadway remained closed for approximately seven hours while emergency crews cleared the scene and investigators began their work. Authorities say crash reconstruction and lab tests are still pending as the investigation continues.
