Ava Lodico dies in fatal Falmouth car crash

Fatal Falmouth car crash death of Ava Lodico – Obituary

Ava Lodico, an 18-year-old senior at Falmouth High School, died in a single-vehicle crash late Saturday night, shortly after attending her school’s prom. The tragic accident occurred on Acapesket Road around 11 p.m., just weeks before she was scheduled to graduate.

According to Massachusetts State Police, Lodico was driving a white Range Rover SUV when the vehicle rolled over and struck a tree. She was transported by ambulance to Falmouth Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Falmouth police initially withheld her name but confirmed that the victim was a high school senior. Her family later identified her as Ava Lodico and shared heartfelt memories, describing her as a lively and loving presence within their close-knit circle.

Her god-sister, Jada Rose, recalled their bond growing up and spoke emotionally about the devastating loss. “We were really close—the three of us were like the three musketeers,” she said. Jada’s brother, Tayden Rose, added, “It’s a shame. She just had her prom last night. At least she had the best day she could.”

Friends and classmates gathered at the crash site on Sunday to create a roadside memorial. Some of the boys she went to school with built and installed a wooden cross in her memory.

A neighbor reportedly told NBC10 Boston that Ava’s mother had been following her daughter’s vehicle at the time of the accident. The family urged other young drivers to avoid emotional driving and to prioritize safety behind the wheel.

School officials arranged grief counseling services for students and staff at Falmouth High School in the days following the accident. Graduation, which had been scheduled for June 7, will now proceed under the weight of loss and remembrance.

The crash is still under investigation by Falmouth police with assistance from the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council’s Accident Reconstruction Team.
