A tragic incident unfolded Friday at the Las Vegas Athletic Club, where longtime employee Edgar Quinonez was fatally shot. The suspected gunman, identified as 34-year-old Daniel Ortega of North Las Vegas, was later shot and killed by police, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred at the fitness center located on Rainbow Boulevard near Vegas Drive. Quinonez, who had been employed at the gym for many years, was killed during the attack. Three other individuals were also injured in the incident.

Sources revealed Ortega worked as a bellman at a hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. No statement was issued by the funeral home handling Ortega’s remains, and the Clark County coroner’s office did not immediately respond to inquiries.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department plans to release further information during a scheduled press conference. The investigation into what prompted the violence remains ongoing.
