Fatal Old Town Portland shooting death of Froilan Ortiz – Obituary

Froilan Ortiz, 49, was shot and killed near NW Naito Parkway close to the Steel Bridge in Portland’s Old Town on the morning of May 11, according to local authorities.

When police arrived around 7 a.m., they found Ortiz lying dead in the street. A medical examiner later confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound and ruled the death a homicide.

Portland police arrested 55-year-old Sean B. Gunton in connection with the shooting. He now faces charges including second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
