John Versace dies in fatal Condell Park shooting

Fatal Condell Park shooting death of John Versace – Obituary

John Versace, a 23-year-old plumber from Sydney, was killed in a violent and deliberate shooting outside his family’s home in Condell Park on Dalton Street. The tragic event took place around 10:30 p.m., when emergency services responded to reports of gunfire.

Authorities arrived to find Versace lying on the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Despite efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe Versace had just parked his ute when a small silver hatchback, possibly a Toyota Corolla, pulled up and blocked the driveway. A man dressed in black exited the vehicle and confronted Versace, who backed up until he was pressed against the garage door. The assailant then pulled out a small handgun and fired as many as ten rounds, with Versace being hit at least four times.

The shooter escaped in the hatchback, which was later found burned in Fairfield East. A handgun was recovered from the charred remains of the vehicle.

Police have confirmed that neither Versace nor his family had any known links to criminal activity or organized crime. Superintendent Rod Hart described the killing as a “targeted, brutal hit” and confirmed that the victim was likely working in his father’s plumbing business.

The family, devastated by the loss, remembered John as a beloved son, brother, and friend. Police are actively collecting evidence, including CCTV footage from the area, and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
