Fatal Paramount, CA freeway crash death of Maria Sanchez – Obituary

Maria Sanchez, 46, tragically lost her life after being struck by a vehicle on the 91 Freeway in Paramount late at night on May 19, 2025. The fatal incident occurred around 10:25 p.m. near the Cherry Avenue off-ramps in the eastbound lanes.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the situation began when a vehicle caught fire and started emitting flames from underneath. Sanchez, who was driving that vehicle, exited the car following the fire outbreak. While outside her vehicle, she was hit by another passing car.

The collision was so forceful that it threw Sanchez into the westbound lanes of the freeway. Sadly, she died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

The accident caused major traffic congestion in both directions as CHP conducted its investigation. Aerial footage captured a long line of vehicles backed up on the freeway while authorities worked at the scene.

Maria Sanchez’s sudden passing highlights the dangers that can arise on highways, especially during emergency situations involving vehicle breakdowns or fires.
