Fatal Long Beach pedestrian crash death of Tung Nguyen Cao – Obituary

Tung Nguyen Cao, 29, was fatally struck by a vehicle while lying in the roadway early Thursday morning in Long Beach. The collision occurred at approximately 2:35 a.m. on Seventh Street near Channel Drive, according to local authorities.

Officials from the Long Beach Police Department reported that a 28-year-old driver from Garden Grove was traveling east on Seventh Street when his vehicle hit Cao, who was in the roadway at the time of the incident.

Emergency personnel responded, but Cao was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office. His city of residence was not immediately known.

The driver involved in the crash remained at the location and fully cooperated with the investigation. Preliminary findings indicated that neither speed, intoxication, nor distracted driving played a role in the fatal accident.
