Fatal Colorado Springs car crash death of Fred Brockway – Obituary

Fred Brockway, a 70-year-old resident, died days after being struck in a hit-and-run crash while crossing a street in Colorado Springs on May 11, according to local police.

 

Officers were called to the intersection of Michelle Court and South Murray Boulevard around 3:07 p.m., where they found Brockway critically injured. Police say he was crossing legally within a marked crosswalk with the pedestrian light when a gold-colored vehicle made a turn and hit him.

 

The driver fled the scene immediately after the impact. Brockway was rushed to a nearby hospital but died from his injuries on May 14.

 

Authorities arrested the suspected driver, a 17-year-old male, on May 15. He now faces charges including hit-and-run resulting in death and failure to exercise proper care toward pedestrians.

 

Police noted this incident marked the 12th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs so far this year.
