Fatal Upper Darby shooting death of Khalief Webster – Obituary
Khalief Webster, 16, was fatally shot on Sunday afternoon near Long Lane and Pine Street in Upper Darby, Delaware County. Police responded to the scene where Webster was found shot in the back following an argument.
Seventeen-year-old Michael Nixon, also from Upper Darby Township, was taken into custody and charged as an adult with murder in connection with Webster’s death. Authorities say Nixon surrendered after police executed search warrants and spoke with his family. It remains unclear if the two knew each other prior to the incident, though both attended Upper Darby High School.
Police and community leaders expressed sorrow over the tragedy, emphasizing the senseless nature of the violence. Webster’s family remembered him as a hardworking young man who enjoyed sports and was eager to begin his full-time career. Officials also warned that additional charges may be forthcoming against those who helped Nixon evade arrest.
