A woman identified as Monia Spadaro, 27, was fatally shot outside the entrance of CIA headquarters in McLean, Virginia, on the morning of Thursday, May 22.

Authorities say the incident occurred when Spadaro reportedly failed to stop at the CIA’s front gate. She was shot in the upper body by security personnel. The FBI responded to the scene in Fairfax County shortly after the shooting and launched an investigation.

Following the incident, the CIA closed its main entrance and advised commuters to use alternative routes. Law enforcement officials have stated that there is no ongoing danger to the public.

The FBI and its Evidence Response Team remain involved in the investigation but have not released further information at this time.
