Fatal Burns shooting death of Ashley Eugene Bartel – Obituary

Ashley Eugene Bartel, 42, was fatally shot in Burns, Wyoming on Wednesday, according to the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies discovered Bartel with an apparent gunshot wound around 1:23 p.m. in the 4500 block of Teal Lane.

Though authorities initially listed Bartel’s age as 43, his sister later clarified to the Wyoming Tribune Eagle that he was 42 years old. Laramie County Coroner Rebecca Reid confirmed his identity on Thursday evening.

Shortly after the shooting, the suspect fled in a red Mazda. Pine Bluffs Police Chief Austin Smith located the vehicle, and with help from LCSO deputies, apprehended 25-year-old Tyler Hill near County Roads 159 and 210. Hill was arrested and booked into the Laramie County jail at 1:59 p.m. on a second-degree murder charge.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is collaborating with local authorities as the investigation continues. Officials are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the sheriff’s office at 307-633-4800.
