Freddy Roberto Pena-Busto dies in fatal Chicago Near West Side stabbing
Fatal Chicago Near West Side stabbing death of Freddy Roberto Pena-Busto – Obituary
Freddy Roberto Pena-Busto, 64, lost his life after being fatally stabbed on Chicago’s Near West Side early Monday morning. According to police reports, Pena-Busto was unloading a truck in an alley near the 2400 block of West Gladys Avenue, close to a CTA Blue Line station, when he encountered Christian Gardner, 35. An argument broke out between the two before Gardner pulled a knife and stabbed Pena-Busto more than ten times.
Emergency responders rushed Pena-Busto to Stroger Hospital of Cook County, where he later died from his injuries. Gardner was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and another felony count related to murder with a strong probability of death or injury.
Gardner was initially scheduled for a court hearing on Wednesday, but the appearance was postponed to Thursday, where a judge ordered he remain in custody until his next court date on June 10. Additional details about the case have not yet been released.
