Grant Clark dies in fatal Washoe County jail incident

Fatal Washoe County jail death of Grant Clark – Obituary

Grant L. Clark, a 63-year-old man believed to be without permanent housing, was found unresponsive in his cell at the Washoe County Jail on Sunday and later declared dead, authorities said.

Emergency responders and jail medical staff began efforts to revive Clark immediately after deputies discovered him around 12:15 p.m. Despite those efforts, paramedics from Remsa and the Reno Fire Department officially pronounced him dead approximately 30 minutes later.

Officials from the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office are conducting an investigation to determine the cause and manner of death. Those results remain pending as additional testing and a full autopsy are still underway.

Detectives with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office have launched a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Clark’s death.
