Fatal Union County car crash death of Jonathan H. Wallace – Obituary

Jonathan H. Wallace, a 67-year-old man from Springfield, lost his life following a serious rollover crash early Sunday morning in Union County. The accident happened at approximately 1:24 a.m. on U.S. 33, involving Wallace’s vehicle and a motorcycle.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 2024 Honda CBR 600 was heading southeast when the rider attempted to maneuver between a 2017 Chevrolet Spark—driven by Wallace—and another vehicle. The motorcycle collided with the rear of Wallace’s car, throwing the 33-year-old motorcyclist onto the roadway.

Wallace’s Chevrolet veered off the right side of the highway, flipping several times before coming to rest in a ditch. Emergency responders rushed both individuals to medical facilities with serious injuries. Wallace was first taken to Union County Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Ohio State Medical Center, where he later died.

The motorcyclist was airlifted by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center for treatment. Authorities confirmed that both drivers had been using proper safety gear, including a helmet and seat belt.

Union County Sheriff’s Office and Allen Township Fire Department assisted at the scene. The incident is still under investigation by authorities.
