Lucas DeGeorge dies in fatal Millville shooting

Lucas DeGeorge dies in fatal Millville shooting

Fatal Millville shooting death of Lucas DeGeorge – Obituary

Lucas DeGeorge, a 17-year-old junior at Buena High School, lost his life after being shot while driving through Millville on Saturday, May 17. Known for his passion for soccer, cars, and sneakers, Lucas was deeply devoted to his family and had a bright future ahead.

An honor student who excelled in advanced courses, Lucas was admired for both his intelligence and determination. He balanced school with a job at ACME in Mays Landing and actively helped his father with the Veteran Home Project, assisting in house renovations.

Tragically, Lucas, who had just celebrated his 17th birthday less than a month earlier, was shot while behind the wheel, which led to a crash on the 900 block of Church Street. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported him to Inspira Hospital in Vineland, where he was declared dead approximately an hour later.

Authorities have not yet disclosed any suspects or leads in connection to this senseless act of violence.

In a heartfelt message posted on social media, Lucas’ grandmother condemned the shooting as the work of “some coward with a gun,” expressing the family’s anguish over the loss. Meanwhile, his stepfather, Justin McGuigan, created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral costs and shared the immense grief the family is enduring.

Lucas’ mother has vowed to seek justice for her son, stating, “Your father and I won’t stop until your murderer is found and brought to justice.” The hashtags #justiceforlucas and #EndGunViolence accompany her calls for action.

Funeral services for Lucas DeGeorge are scheduled for Friday, May 23, as the community mourns the loss of a promising young life cut tragically short.
