Fatal Wrightsville Beach boating accident death of Mark Rosenberg – Obituary
Mark Rosenberg, 62, tragically died following a boating accident near Palm Tree Island in Wrightsville Beach on Thursday afternoon.
The incident was first reported around 5:20 p.m. when a call came in about an unmanned boat circling uncontrollably, according to Captain Ryan Sapatorit with SeaTow. A SeaTow operator responded quickly and discovered Rosenberg in the water. Despite performing CPR, efforts to revive him were unsuccessful before the U.S. Coast Guard arrived.
An investigation conducted by North Carolina Wildlife officials revealed that Rosenberg was ejected from the boat after not using the ignition cutoff safety switch. The medical examiner later confirmed that his death was caused by a head injury sustained during the fall.
