Fatal Marlborough house fire death of Robert Hranek – Obituary
Robert Hranek, 83, tragically lost his life after a fire engulfed his Marlborough home in the early morning hours of May 12. Authorities confirmed that Hranek was the sole occupant of the residence on Hanlon Drive.
Emergency crews responded to the scene at approximately 4:35 a.m. after a passerby noticed the fire. By the time firefighters arrived, the single-family house was fully ablaze, with flames venting through the roof. Firefighters did not hear any smoke alarms upon arrival.
Despite the intense conditions, responders entered the home and located Hranek inside. He was found unresponsive and removed from the burning structure but was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Crews from both Marlborough and Southborough managed to control the blaze within about 30 minutes. The fire left the home with severe, total damage, though no one else was harmed in the incident.
Investigators have not yet determined the exact cause of the fire, but they currently believe it was accidental in nature. No functioning smoke alarms have been recovered from the debris.
