Fatal Van Alstyne crash death of Tommy Moorehead – Obituary
Tommy Moorehead, along with his two young children, tragically lost their lives in a severe head-on collision in Van Alstyne, Texas on May 17. The devastating accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. when a Dodge truck, driven by 63-year-old Rocky Patterson, attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone on an uphill stretch, colliding directly with Moorehead’s truck.
The impact was intense, causing Moorehead’s vehicle to catch fire. Sadly, Moorehead and his children, aged 4 and 6, died at the scene. Patterson was hospitalized following the crash, while the driver of a third vehicle involved was treated on-site and released.
Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Patterson the following day. He was charged with three counts of manslaughter, a second-degree felony in Texas, and was booked into the Grayson County Jail with a $3 million bond.
The loss has left Moorehead’s wife, Brooke, facing the unimaginable pain of losing her entire family in an instant. A GoFundMe campaign started by a coworker is seeking support for Brooke during this heartbreaking time, honoring the memory of Tommy Jr. and Lynnlee, the children who brought so much joy and love.
As the investigation continues, this tragedy serves as a painful reminder of the consequences of reckless driving and the profound impact it can have on families and communities.
