Fatal Edison, New Jersey highway crash death of Yuan Ding – Obituary

Yuan Ding, 83, was fatally injured Thursday night while attempting to cross Route 27 in Edison on her electric mobility scooter. The incident occurred around 8:50 p.m. near Sheppard Place in the southern part of the township.

Emergency crews transported Ding to a nearby hospital, where she passed away from her injuries less than an hour later.

According to Edison police, the driver involved, a 57-year-old local man, remained at the scene after the collision. Authorities cited rainy conditions and limited visibility on the four-lane road as contributing factors to the tragic event.

At this time, officials do not anticipate any charges against the driver.
