Fatal Sioux County house fire death of Shelly Smith – Obituary

Shelly Smith, 61, lost her life in a tragic house fire that broke out early Monday morning in rural Sioux County, Iowa. The incident occurred just after 6 a.m. at a residence located about seven miles southwest of Rock Valley, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

When emergency responders arrived, the house was already fully consumed by flames. Fire crews from multiple departments provided assistance in battling the blaze. Shelly Smith was found deceased inside the home.

The homeowner, 67-year-old Mike Smith, sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. His current condition has not been disclosed.

Authorities have not yet released the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation.
