Fatal Greene County crash death of Bhupinder Singh – Obituary

Bhupinder Singh, 26, lost his life in a tragic collision on Interstate 81 in Greene County on Friday morning.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that a Jeep Compass was stopped on the right shoulder of southbound I-81 near mile marker 41.4 when a Volvo tractor-trailer, traveling southbound, struck the Jeep’s left side. Following the impact, the Volvo spun to the right, veered off the road, and overturned.

The overturned Volvo came to rest facing north, with the trailer partially blocking the right travel lane. Emergency crews confirmed that Singh, the Volvo’s driver, was killed in the crash. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the occupants of the Jeep.

Due to the accident, southbound traffic on I-81 was closed at mile marker 41 and rerouted through Fall Branch while cleanup efforts were underway. The tractor-trailer also caught fire after rolling over, causing delays in the area that lasted for several hours.
