Fatal Oconee County hit-and-run death of Bryan Alexander Devries – Obituary

Bryan Alexander Devries was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Oconee County, South Carolina, that authorities are currently investigating. The accident took place late Thursday night on SC 130 near South Craggmore Drive.

 

According to law enforcement, a minivan—likely a 2021 to 2025 Toyota Sienna with damage to the front passenger side—was traveling westbound when it struck Devries, who was on foot. The vehicle fled the scene and remains unidentified.

 

Devries, who worked at a local Dollar General Store, was reported missing on Saturday evening after he had not shown up for work in two days. He was last seen leaving work around 10 p.m. Thursday night. A deputy discovered his body along the route from the store to his home in the Keowee Key Community on Saturday at approximately 7:20 p.m.

 

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, South Carolina Highway Patrol, and coroner’s office are actively investigating the case as a hit-and-run. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday. Authorities urge anyone with information about the vehicle or suspect to contact law enforcement anonymously.
