Dexter Williams dies in fatal Chicago restaurant shooting

Fatal Chicago restaurant shooting death of Dexter Williams – Obituary

Dexter Williams, 38, was killed in a shooting that erupted at a restaurant in Chicago’s Roseland neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities said the deadly incident began with an argument over the type of cheese used on a sandwich at Momty’s Grill on East 111th Street.

According to police, a customer became upset about his order and began yelling at a staff member. The employee called her son for assistance. When he arrived, the situation escalated further. The irate customer and another man began to chase and physically assault the son.

Amid the altercation, the son fired shots that struck both Dexter Williams and Monte Potts, 34. Both men later died as a result of their injuries.

The shooter was taken into custody at the scene and transported to Roseland Community Hospital for treatment of injuries. Police noted that the shooting may have been an act of self-defense, and no charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues.
